v1.0.1 — Elevators actually work now
Thanks to everyone who playtested v1.0.0 and told me elevators were broken. They were. Here's the fix list:
- Elevators no longer get stuck or duplicate cars. Splitting a shaft (by bulldozing a middle floor) used to clone every car and passenger across both halves and trap riders mid-trip. Cars now redistribute to the correct sub-shaftbased on position, and any rider whose destination floor disappears gets ejected at the nearest valid floor.
- No more mid-air elevator chains. The old cantilever rule let you snake elevators sideways through open air. Shaftsnow require a unit directly below at the same column — no exceptions for elevators or stairs.
- Clearer tutorial: "click on a lobby cell, then drag UP to paint a shaft floor by floor. Shafts must connect all the way down to a lobby — no mid-air placement."
- New stuff while I was in there: express lifts, ETA-based group dispatch, building overview panel, bomb threat events, sound effects.
Still on the list: dedicated shaft columns (so elevators don't visually overlap units), non-destructive renovations,
fire extinguishing without demolition. Coming soon.
